TV Top Ten - Grammys Forced To Worship The IdolAuthor: Scott Gwin

The Super Bowl has come and gone, leaving American Idol to once again exert total supremacy over everything on the airwaves. On an interesting note, that show, which happens twice a week and dedicates itself to trying to find someone good enough to try and win an award, completely eclipsed a show about people who are actually winning those awards. The Grammy Awards only drew 19 million viewers, far short of the 26 million who turned into each night of Idol. That's a step backward for the ceremony which had over 20 million last year. Blame Chris Brown. The performer failed to show up for his appearance because he was too busy getting busted for beating up his girlfriend, fellow musician Rihanna. Chock it up as another classy night for the music industry. TNT's The Closer topped all other cable shows for the week beating out popular Monk and up-and-coming Burn Notice. But it only won out on the rating card. Monk drew the most viewers with 5.6 million to Closers 5.3 million.
