The Muppets Get A New Special On NBC

When I was a little girl back in the 70s, my parents would not tell me that it was time for my favorite show. They would simply turn the TV up to a really high volume when the theme song began to play, so they could crack up at me when I ran into the room like a maniac. Yes, I loved, and still love The Muppet Show.

So, when I got up this morning to see the news on Hollywood Reporter’s TV News page, my kids got to see that same old reaction. “NBC is getting into the holiday spirit with "Letters to Santa -- A Muppets Christmas." Woo-Hoo! A new Muppets Special!

“Whoopi Goldberg, The Sopranos alums Tony Sirico and Steve Schirripa, Harry Potter regular Richard Griffiths and Madison Pettis are set to star in the special alongside Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Miss Piggy and the rest of the muppets gang.

Letters is set on Christmas Eve when Kermit and company mistakenly avert three letters en route to Santa Claus, which triggers a race against time to bring a happy Christmas to the kids whose wishes were lost in the mail.”

I’m so glad that even though Jim Henson is no longer with us, his wonderful characters still are. The world wouldn’t be the same without the love of a frog and a pig.
