The Soup's Joel McHale Cast In NBC Comedy Pilot image
Whether he’s making fun of Ryan Seacrest, poking fun at reality TV or talking about chicks, man, Joel McHale is hilarious on a weekly basis. Now it looks like he’s going to be bringing his comedic skills to NBC’s new comedy pilot Community, which Anthony and Joe Russo are set to direct.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Community is described as Stripes in a community college. It centers on Jeff (McHale), a lawyer who has to go back to college when he finds out his degree is deemed invalid. McHale’s done some guest-starring roles in other shows before but a starring role like this sounds like a pretty big deal to me. Whether or not this news means he's leaving The Soup, the Reporter didn’t say. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see if the show gets picked up first.

In other casting news, Marc Blucas, who played Riley in Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been cast in ABC’s drama pilote See Cate Run. And Dean Winters (Oz, Rescue Me, 30 Rock, Terminator: SCC) was signed for ABC drama pilote Happy Town.
