Toby Keith And Kristen Bell To Host 2012 CMT Music Awards
CMT’s big awards country music awards show is gearing up for the June 6th ceremony; the hosts for this year’s show will be a country music star and a current Showtime actress. Toby Keith and Kristen Bell are set to take the stage together as co-hosts. Also announced are performers for the show which include Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, and Kenny Chesney.
Keith is not new to CMT’s awards show, he’s been involved in some capacity every year since the show started up. This will be Kristen Bell’s first involvement with CMT, according to the Deadline report, and she’s expected to bring some laughs to the broadcast. Toby Keith is no stranger to music awards and has been at the top of the country music world for almost two decades now, so he certainly brings the country music cred to the co-hosting team.
Kristen Bell isn’t someone I’d normally associate with country music, but no doubt she’d do a great job as an awards show host in any genre. She’s a busy lady these days; right now she’s starring in House of Lies on Showtime and has a lot of voice work as well. She narrates Gossip Girl, will be doing voices for the animated series Unsupervised at FX and is set to become the latest Disney princess in the feature Frozen. She’s also got the film Some Girls just wrapped. Add CMT Awards host to the list of credits to make on impressive resume this year.
The awards show accepts votes from country music fans to determine the winners; voting goes through June 4th, two days before the air date. Set to perform on the awards show are Idol winner turned country star Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley, and Zac Brown Band. CMT is expected to release more of the performers and the presenters list soon.
