For people my age or younger, I think it’s kind of hard to understand exactly what Kennedy meant to our parents. I get why he was an important president, but I’m willing to let it go already. Tom Hanks, and probably your parents, just aren’t. Here comes yet another Kennedy project.

Time says Hanks has obtained the rights to a controversial book about President Kennedy’s assassination which I’ve never heard of and will never read because, like I said, I’m under 40 and to my generation the topic feels more fucked out than a Katherine Heigl romantic comedy. But Hanks is intent on turning it into a TV show, and plans to have it out there in some format or another by 2013. He thinks it’s some noble endeavor, saying: “We're going to do the American public a service.” Because of course no one has ever aired anything about the Kennedy assassination before. Let it go. Kennedy’s long dead and so, sadly, is his dream.
