Twentieth Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror Airs Sunday

This weekend Fox will air the twenthieth annual Simpsons Treehouse of Horror. That’s two-X’s for those of you who like their numerals Roman-style. We’ve got some info on the spooky Halloween special and the details on the contest Fox is running for fans to create a Simpson character.

Below are the three chilling tales of Halloween that are set to unfold in The Simpsons annual Treehouse of Horror episode, which is set to air Sunday, October 18th at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox.

Lisa strikes a deal with Bart to seek revenge on their teachers in a series of homages to classic Hitchcock.

Homer becomes a half-man, half-brewing apparatus, trapped underneath the bar singing about his fate a'la Sweeney Todd.

And for those of you who think you’re creative enough to come up with a Simpsons character worthy of making it onto the show, Fox is running a contest. Below are the details:

“Beginning today, fans can enter THE SIMPSONS Character Contest to create the “Best. Character. Ever.” Fans 18 years of age and older will have an opportunity to produce the newest Springfield resident and create the character’s traits, including name/nickname, age, appearance, occupation and catchphrases, at thesimpsons.com. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM ET on October 24, 2009.

The winning entry, selected by THE SIMPSONS producers, will be animated into an episode of THE SIMPSONS in January 2010 to be seen by millions of people around the world. The grand-prize winner will also receive a trip to Los Angeles to meet with SIMPSONS producers and an animator and work with the team to bring the character to life on the small screen.
