The morning after I had a dream that I cheated on my boyfriend with Dr. Gregory House (seriously) I’m happy to find that one of my other TV crushes is coming back next season. USA has just announced that it will be bringing Vincent D’Onofrio and Law & Order: Criminal Intent back for a 16-episode eighth season. CI jumped to USA last season after spending its first six years on NBC.
Although USA is CI’s official home, it will more than likely continue to make appearances on NBC to fill holes in the schedule. The 16 episodes will continue to be split up between the detective teams, with Vincent D’Onofrio and Katherine Erbe taking half and Chris Noth and Julianne Nicholson taking the other eight. Nicholson was replaced by Alicia Witt while on maternity leave last season, but is currently renegotiating her contract along with her other three co-stars.
Like many other shows, Criminal Intent’s current season is airing in two parts due to the writers strike. The first ten episodes have already aired, while the last eight are scheduled to begin June 8th, as part of USA’s special summer season. If you haven’t watched CI this season or at all, I highly recommend tuning in on the 8th. It’s good TV in the Summer—and that’s hard to beat.
