Veep fans, it’s time gear up for Season 2. HBO has given the Emmy-winning comedy a premiere date for its return to television, and it’s only about two months away. Veep’s second season will hit the air shortly after another HBO hit Game of Thrones returns.

HBO set the official premiere date today; Deadline says it will return on April 14th. That means we’re all going to have get our taxes done early so we aren’t distracted by last minute filing. Veep’s second season premiere is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST, right after Game of Thrones. That series premieres Season 3 on March 31st, so it should be airing its third episode as a lead-in to Veep’s return.

Julia-Louis Dreyfuss’ win for Lead Actress in a Comedy at the Emmys certainly earned this show a lot more attention, but HBO already knew they had a winner on their hands only two episodes into the first season. They gave the political satire a second season renewal in April of last year not long after it started up. Veep appeared on many of the best shows of the year lists, including our own top comedies as well as our list of picks for the best new shows of 2012. All the attention seems to point toward a big second year for Veep, as long as it can live up to the high standards it set in Season 1. With the premiere date set, the we can start the countdown to finding out how the second season fares.
