Despite the fans scrambling with one final effort to save ‘Veronica Mars,’ it appears there is virtually no hope that the series will be picked up for another season – this, according to ‘Mars’ creator, Rob Thomas. As a truckload of candy bars and marshmallows make their way to CW headquarters, fans are forced to come to grips with the reality that their beloved ‘Mars’, is finished – in television, at least.

After CBS gave ‘Jericho’ a second chance, due in large part to the nut-campaign that was organized by fans of the series, ‘Mars’ fans were inspired to start a ‘Mars Bars’ campaign in the hopes of yielding similar results from The CW. Thousands of Mars Bars, Snickers with Almonds and hundreds of pounds of marshmallows were purchased by ‘Mars’ fans and should be on their way to The CW today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll do much good.

The deadline was supposed to be this Friday but the way Thomas put it, it looks as though it’s a done deal. Ausiello reported in his TVguide.com blog that Rob Thomas emailed him, saying “I'm afraid I have to report that Veronica Mars is officially dead. At least in TV show form. There's really no way that it can happen now. I'm not sure the CW should've given the glimmer of hope”

Ausiello and others have suggested redirecting the shipment to Warner Brothers feature division since that’s who would make the decision to put ‘Mars’ on the big screen.

Now, if you’re not a ‘Veronica Mars’ fan you’re probably thinking, “Geez, let it go already!” I get that. But the truth is, there was definitely more story to tell with this series and the finale of the third season did virtually nothing to give us any kind of satisfactory conclusion. A movie would be a good way to tie up the loose ends and finish up the story properly. Rob Thomas has said he’d be open to doing a feature script but seemed doubtful that the movie would sell.

I’ve heard people all over the internet stating that if ‘Veronica Mars’ is officially cancelled, they’ll never watch The CW again. Though no official word has come down from The CW yet, it looks as though this is the end of the road for ‘Veronica Mars.’

Where do you stand?

Are you done with the CW?

Assuming what Rob Thomas said is true (that the show has been officially canceled)...
