Video Clip: How I Met Your Mother - Robin Sparkles Returns! Back during the second season of How I Met Your Mother, we learned that Robin had a deep dark secret from her past. Robin’s secret was what inspired the infamous slap bet that still plagues Barney to this day (three slaps down, two to go!). Her past came back to haunt her in the episode titled, “Slap Bet” and it looks like we haven’t seen the last of Robin Sparkles! For a video from next week’s episode and a few minor spoilers (you’ve been warned!) read on!

This Monday’s episode is titled “Sand Castles In The Sand” and involves Robin reconnecting with an old flame from her pop-star past. That brings us to this ridiculously cheesy clip, which was posted on Robin Sparkles’ website. If “Let’s Go To The Mall” was the most raddest video you ever saw, then you’re going to love “Sand Castles In The Sand”:

Sandcastles in the Sand

As you might’ve noticed, that dreamy hunk she’s singing about is played by none other than James Van Der Beek. And the man sitting behind her in the weird set-up on the beach is former Growing Pains star Alan Thicke. Apparently, Robin had a thing with Van Der Beek’s character back in her pop star days but it didn't work out. When he comes back into her life, Robin thinks there might be a chance they could get their relationship going again.

I don’t know about you but that snippet of Robin Sparkles’ video inspired me to head over to YouTube and find the music video for Debbie Gibson’s “Lost In Your Eyes.” And that in turn caused me to search for Tiffany’s “Could’ve Been.” This resulted in some weird flashbacks of the fifth grade. So thanks for that, HIMYM.

How I Met Your Mother airs on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
