Watch: Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes Discusses The State Of The Abbey In Season 3
Downton Abbey fans on this side of the pond have waited months for the series to make its way onto PBS Masterpiece for its third season. At last, we're just a few days away from the Season 3 U.S. premiere. PBS posted a video of series creator Julian Fellowes offering a few not-especially-spoilery tidbits about the state of things as the third season gets going.
It's become difficult to avoid Downton spoilers since Season 3 wrapped up in the U.K. and the Christmas episode aired. The video below does give us a few glimpses of the show as Fellowes discusses where things are when Season 3 picks up, but it's set up as a teaser for Season 3, so he doesn't get specific on anything and there don't appear to be any major spoilers.
It sounds like this is an interesting time period to explore, with people in Europe in the post-war mindset, sort of checking themselves over to make sure they're ok before moving forward, and technology advancing. It'll be exciting to see how things are going on in the Abbey. There are new characters to meet and Matthew is getting "drawn into the family circle, without necessarily changing his position." Drama awaits!
Episode 1 of Season 3 is two hours and will air on PBS Masterpiece Sunday, January 6. You can view the full PBS Masterpiece Downton Abbey schedule here.
