Watch The Making Of Sci Fi Channel's Tin Man

Watch The Making Of Sci Fi Channel's Tin Man In just a few weeks, the Sci Fi channel’s twisted, macabre version of Frank L. Baum’s classic “Wizard of Oz” debuts as a miniseries called Tin Man. Of course there’s no replacing an iconic classic like the original Wizard of Oz movie, but the interesting thing about Oz is that the film we all know so well is really vastly different from the wonderful and weird universe Frank Baum created in his books. Great though the original Wizard of Oz movie is, there’s never been a definitive film version of what Baum really wrote.

Well, Tin Man isn’t likely to be it either. If the original Wizard of Oz is sort of a smoothed out, simplified version of Baum’s books then Tin Man looks to be going in precisely the opposite direction. The Sci Fi channel version is making everything weirder and darker, and in their own way more fantastical. With a cast composed of amazing actors like Zooey Deschanel, Richard Dreyfuss, and Alan Cumming, I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’ve done with it (Though it’s slightly irritating that they insist on calling “Oz” “The Oh Zee”. Seriously, does everything have to be turned into KFC?). Though I hope some day someone actually gets around to really adaptin Baum’s great books.

The folks at the Sci Fi channel have graciously sent us 5 fantastic making of videos, fresh from the set of Tin Man. If you’re on the fence about whether or not you should bother tuning in when the miniseries debuts on December 2nd, this ought to push you over the edge. This may be made-for-TV, but the effects look amazing, and the footage they show here looks absolutely cinematic and epic.
