ABC Family To Play Host To A Harry Potter Weekend Next Week
ABC Family is helping Harry Potter fans gear up for the big premiere of the final film with multiple airings of the first five movies. The fun begins with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which is set to air a week from tomorrow.
I’m both excited and a little bit sad that Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be in theaters soon (July 15th), which is similar but to a lesser degree to how I felt when Book 7 was released. I’m a geek and proud of it, so I feel no shame or embarrassment in admitting to having attended the midnight book sales for the last three Harry Potter books. However, I’ve never done the midnight premiere for the movies. The films are fun but, between already knowing what’s going to happen, not liking going to the movies when I'm tired, and being among the many who believe the books are superior to the movies, I’m ok with waiting until later during the premiere weekend to see it. Still, I’m eager to see how the final film plays out and after looking over ABC Family’s schedule for the first five films, I’m feeling inspired to revisit the earlier movies marathon-style.
“Harry Potter Weekend” begins on ABC Family on Thursday, July 7th. If you want to watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows Part 1, you’ll have to rent/purchase them as they aren’t on the schedule (I’m assuming ABC Family doesn’t have the rights to them yet). The schedule is below and further down you’ll find the link to a sweepstakes ABC Family is running, where you can win a bunch of HP prizes.
Thursday, July 7th
You can enter ABC Family’s sweepstakes and get yourself in the running for a sweet HP prize pack, which includes DVDs, a cast-signed book and prop replicas, by going here.
