Netflix is always working to bring new streaming content to the table and on Monday, the home entertainment company announced it has worked out a deal for complete seasons of Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation, and Adult Swim. Additionally, just to shake things up a bit, fans will also be treated to episodes of TNT’s Dallas.
The list of new shows headed to Netflix is fairly lengthy, and quite frankly, animated fans should rejoice. Cartoon Network fodder that is joining the lineup includes Adventure Time, Ben 10, Johnny Bravo, and the Regular Show. Plus, Warner Bros. Animation’s Green Lantern will also get a chance to shine on Netflix’s streaming service. Adult Swim will bring episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Boondocks, Children’s Hospital, and Robot Chicken to the table. In short, there will be plenty of animated fodder to watch.
The bad news is that licensing agreements are complicated, and we still have a while to wait before all of the new programs become part of the streaming service. All of the animated programming won’t hit Netflix until March 30, 2013. Additionally, Dallas might as well not have been announced at this juncture, since it won’t be available to view until January 2014. Luckily, when Dallas does show up, both Season 1 and Season 2 of the hit TNT drama will be available in full. “Complete past seasons” of the other series will be made available, but “complete seasons” doesn’t necessarily imply “most seasons,” although I’m hoping that the programs that have run for a shorter amount of time will be available in full. Stay tuned for more information.
