FX has been teasing us fairly regularly these days, offering teaser after teaser for the upcoming second season of American Horror Story, subtitled Asylum. Enetertainment Weekly is set to feature the horror-drama in their upcoming issue and a look at their cover offers a very interesting (and spoilery!) look at Jessica Lange's character. Spoilers ahead!
Included in some of the teasers that have been released for AHS Season 2 is a white-faced nun. This includes the one we shared yesterday, which had the nun crowd-surfing. But what's the deal with the nun? Take a look at the cover for EW's upcoming issue…
Jessica Lange is a nun! In fact, EW says she plays Sister Jude, "a wickedly stern nun." The institution is run by nuns, and there's also "a cast of characters ranging from a possible former Nazi, Dr. Arden (James Cromwell), to nymphomaniac patient Shelley (Chloe Sevigny)."
As you have probably already heard, Season 2 of American Horror Story will take place in a mental institution. It will feature all new characters and a partially new cast (Lange and some others, including Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto and Lily Rabe will be back, joining newcomers Chloe Sevigny, James Cromwell and Adam Levine).
“Every year of the show is a different miniseries, and there will be several chapters,” explains co-creator Ryan Murphy. “You need as your leading man or leading lady an institution to haunt.” Adds co-creator Brad Falchuk, “To me, last year was a family drama. This is our version of a workplace drama.”
EW's article also mentions the introduction of "aliens, Nazis, and a serial killer named Bloody Face who wears a mask made out of the victims skin along with black nightie and opera length gloves." Yikes. Factoring in these spoilers and hints, there's definitely potential for something even more twisted this season!
Keep an eye out for this week's issue of EW to see what other tidbits might be offered about American Horror Story: Asylum, which premieres on FX this October.
