When Ann Curry was let go from her job at The Today Show, it was announced she would continue working with NBC to cover breaking news stories around the world. At the time, I asked readers if they thought the network would actually let her work in any meaningful way. More than eighty percent said no. I was among them. It turns out most of us were mistaken.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Curry has been tapped by the Peacock Network to co-anchor Today’s weekend coverage of The Dark Knight Rises massacre in Aurora, Colorado. She’ll reportedly fly out west alongside her replacement Savannah Guthrie, and the two will share the table on both Saturday and Sunday. Curry will also will also file reports for NBC Nightly News and Dateline. If the incident Curry and Guthrie were covering was less of a tragedy, the dynamic on set could have the ability to get a bit awkward, but given the severity of what happened, one would imagine both of these ladies would want to be in the middle of the action doing all they can. Expect both to play nice and to put on a professional and competent show. To read more about the shootings, you can head over here. TV Blend’s thoughts go out to all the victims’ families as well as everyone else affected by this senseless loss of life. Back to top
