Arrested Development's Mitch Hurwitz Shares A Thank You Letter With Fans And Enemies
"It's been our great joy to bring this to you on Netflix, where you can access it whenever and however you want," Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurtwitz said, in the thank you letter he wrote to his fans and enemies this weekend. "Except, you know it's really meant to be watched in order. And you really should watch them all, because they build and I'm just saying, 'eventually,' if you can. All 15."
I don't think many fans are going to have a hard time watching all 15 episodes. I'm up to episode 5 and they only seem to get better with each installment! But watching in order is certainly good advice. The series jumps around a bit but there's definitely a slow build happening, with clues and teases dropped about other characters in each episode.
The thank you letter, which you can view in its bigger form below (click the thumbnail) or over on the Arrested Development Facebook page, comes from Hurwitz, on behalf of everyone involved in bringing Arrested Development back for its fourth season, which made its grand debut early this morning, in its entirety, on Netflix. "But really, this is yours now," Hurwitz tells his fans. "Except for the obvious copyright issues. And you have to subscribe to Netflix. So it's not completely yours, I guess."
It's nice of Hurwitz to take the time to literally pen a letter to fans and thank them for the support they've shown the series over the years. If the series' return tells us one thing, it's that a show cancelled nearly a decade ago still has the chance to come back if people want it badly. And so far, the buzz about the new episodes has been positive, though it'll be interesting to see more reactions to the season as a whole once more people have the chance to view it.
Speaking of which, we're sharing our reactions to the series episode by episode. Check out our (spoiler-filled) recaps here!
