Big Brother 14 Live Feed Spoilers: Was The Veto Used?

It's already another interesting week in the Big Brother house, and with the finale looming closer, it's understandable that all of the houseguests are trying to position themselves as best they can in the hopes of making it to the end. The Veto competition took place on Saturday and today, the winner decided whether or not they were going to use it. For those who don't want to wait until Wednesday night's episode to learn the Veto results, read on! Live feed spoilers ahead!

There've been a lot of conversations in the Big Brother house in the last few days, and I'll admit, it's hard to keep up, but I've done my best to monitor the feeds to keep track of what the real plan is (vs. staged conversations as part of certain houseguests' game-play).

Ian and Dan have taken the game to a whole new level this week. As we reported this weekend, Dan won the Veto. So, obviously this keeps him safe. And since it's the Quack Pack's plan to get Frank out this week, the obvious solution would be for Dan not to use the Veto, leave the nominations the same, and send Frank packing. He's set up to go and they have the votes. But, instead, the duo have decided to use the Veto to help position themselves better within the house. Dan sort of "owed" Jenn for saving him, so using the Veto on her would win her trust - possibly enough so that if she were to win Head of Household she probably wouldn't put Dan up against Ian. Meanwhile, Ian made a deal during the HoH competition to keep Danielle and Shane safe, so if Dan uses the Veto, Joe is the only alternative nominee for Ian.

Ian and Dan agreed that Dan would use the Veto to save Jenn, and that Ian would put Joe up. But the plan was for Dan to tell Jenn he was using the Veto on her, and for Ian to tell Joe that Dan wasn't using the Veto, but if he did use it, he'd have no choice but to put Joe up. Joe was cool with that situation, and seemed to understand that if it came to that, Ian would have no other option. Basically this plan wins Jenn's favor for Dan, and while Dan looks like the bad guy to Joe, Joe won't blame Ian for nominating him. And in the end, the plan is still to send Frank home. So the whole point of this is to use the Veto to manipulate the houseguests. And that's what happened today.

We didn't see the Veto ceremony, but from what's been talked about since the feeds came back on, Dan used the Veto to pull Jenn off, and Ian put Joe up in her place. It sounds like Ian played it up like he wasn't happy about it, which was part of the plan. Dan said something about someone telling him he's "playing with fire." I think it might have been Ian who said that (no confirmation though as I only caught part of the statement). I'm very excited to see what that ceremony looked like.

In addition to using the Veto as a manipulation tool, Dan's been busy working on alliances with other players. From what I've been able to tell, he has a Final 2 deal with Frank, a Final 2 deal with Ian, the Quack Pack alliance with Danielle, Ian and Shane, a Final 3 deal with Danielle and Shane, and some kind of alliance with Jenn (might be a Final 2 deal). The only person he seems to be on the outs with is Joe, and I'm willing to bet Joe is the next person he'll try to get out of the house, if given the opportunity, for that reason.

Speaking of Joe, he made a game-blunder last night. I didn't see this, but Dan repeated the story on the feeds today. Apparently, Dan was talking to Joe last night, and then it sounds like he left the room and came back and laid down on Danielle's bed. Joe thought he was Shane and said something like, "Dan pulled me back here and tried to get information." Dan told him it was him in the room with him., which resulted in some awkwardness. (It doesn't sound like Dan planned for this to happen - he admitted to wishing he'd thought to get Joe to talk more). I hope that makes it into the episode. As annoying as it is that Danielle's whispering has started to become so low that sometimes, it sounds like little more than a light tapping sound, occasionally masked by the louder noise of her hair brushing over her microphone, I can at least respect her stealthiness. Especially when Joe is barely willing to check to make sure he has the right person in the room before he talks game or smack about someone behind their back.

There are some things I haven't been able to keep up with, like how much Danielle knows. She and Dan are continuing to play it up like they aren't close anymore, though they are (as far as I can tell). And Dan's included Danielle on his attempts to get close with Jenn, including talk of a Final 3 deal with the two of them. But I'm not clear on whether or not Shane and Danielle know the full extent of Ian and Dan's plans today. I don't think they do, because I think both Ian and Dan see the value in keeping their alliance a secret from the other two people in their alliance (especially if the Quack Pack actually makes it into the Final 4). Danielle is positioned well, though. She has Shane's loyalty and Dan's been working with her too (though I think he might actually be working more closely with Ian at this point. Hard to say). If anything hurts Danielle, it's her closeness with Shane, which could make her a target. Other than that, no one seems to be gunning for her.

At this point, I don't know how Dan's keeping who's in on what straight, but so far, he's doing it. And maybe the houesguests are all too wrapped up in their own secret dealings to realize it (yet). Now, whether or not Dan can keep appearances up going forward remains to be seen. Right now, Jenn wants Frank to stay, but the Quack Pack wants Frank out. And Frank thinks he and Dan have an alliance (though he seems to be waiting to see whether Dan will actually honor it). So what happens in the next few days and on Thursday night could make or break Dan's game.

While it seems like Frank is poised to leave on Thursday night, I'm sure there will be talks and Frank and Joe will both do their best to try to get the votes to stay (three votes for safety this week, with a possible tie-breaker in Ian if it comes to a two-two tie). As it stands, it seems like Frank has Jenn and he thinks he might have Dan, so he just needs to get that third vote. If he were to get Danielle, he'd get Shane too, but I'd be surprised if that happened right now. But there are still a few days between now and Thursday night. Anything can happen!

Finally, the houseguests got a flag today in honor of Labor Day. Dan took on the task of hanging it up (he's in the process of trying to do that) and gave Jerry a shout-out (for being a Marine).
