If you're among those who consider themselves hooked on Starz' Kelsey Grammer starring drama series Boss, you'll definitely want to see the art the pay-cable channel has revealed for the series' upcoming second season. One might describe the metaphor as meaty, but fortunately there's a description so we aren't left hanging. And that's about as far as I'm willing to go with the punning today.
Grammer won a much deserved Golden Globe for his portrayal of Chicago Mayor Tom Kane in the Starz drama series. In addition to being intimidating, and occasionally ruthless, the character is dealing with a number of stressful situations, including his job keeping Chicago running, his family issues, and his attempts to keep the symptoms of his brain disease a secret from everyone.
With Boss set to return for Season 2 next month, we've already begun to see some promotional content trickle in, including this teaser, and the poster below, which has Mayor Kane in a chilly situation.
The inside of a meat truck sparks the memory of a scene from Goodfellas, only in this case, there are more hanging characters than there is meat, and Tom Kane's the one holding the hook. I like the way he's pushing his sleeves up, like he knows he's about to get his hands dirty.
Here's the description Starz included, which offers a bit of insight into what the photo represents…
Mayor Tom Kane (Kelsey Grammer) demands absolute loyalty from all who serve him, and he will stop at nothing in his pursuit of command over the city of Chicago. Those who betray him will suffer until their devotion returns and they once again feed his power. He stands, proud and determined as ever, in the center of a gallery where those who must atone are literally and figuratively suspended. In Kane’s world you either show blind allegiance like cattle or become just another piece of meat for the machine.
Boss returns for Season 2 on Friday, August 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Starz.
