Top Chef has had a really big run lately. In 2010, the Bravo reality series won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition, knocking the Amazing Race off of its pedestal for the first time since 2003. After that, Top Chef produced an all stars season, followed by the current competition, which is set in Texas, where everything is bigger. The current season has laid stock in more contestants, weirder characters, and a “last chance kitchen” segment that gives kicked-off contestants the unique opportunity to cook their way back into the competition.

If all that information doesn’t really give you an idea of the changes wrought in Top Chef in Season 9, consider this week’s episode. In it, the five remaining chefs were each given $100 bucks, a map, and copies of Peewee Herman’s bicycle and told they had to cook in random kitchens before returning to the Alamo to serve the judges. While the current season has been a little out there, apparently something about it is working. According to Deadline, Bravo has renewed Top Chef
After all of the excitement over the last couple of seasons, I am a bit worried about what the upcoming season will bring. Can Top Chef get any bigger and bolder? Or, would we likely prefer it if it settled back into its old routine? Either way, Season 10 should be a landmark season. I’ll certainly keep watching, in the hopes the show will go on long enough to encourage a second all stars season. Don't act as if you wouldn't be excited to see Fabio or Angelo get the chance to cook again.
