Breaking Bad Season 5, Episode 5 - Dead FreightAuthor: Kelly West

To say that things are getting tense on the White household on Breaking Bad may be something of an understatement. But given everything that's going on, tension seems inevitable. Two of the videos we have to show you from next Sunday night's episode of Breaking Bad ("Dead Freight") address Walt's domestic issues, particularly with regards to Walter Jr. or "Flynn" as he prefers to be called.
I'll never get used to Walter Jr. being called Flynn. But maybe that's due to the subtle trace of effort in the way Skylar and Marie say the name, as though they're doing him a courtesy by calling him that, rather than actually simply saying his name. Given what's going on in the White household, what Walter jr. wants to be called is pretty insignificant by comparison. The preview videos for next week's "Dead Freight" show us what's going on with Flynn. Flynn was oblivious to how tense his mother was during Walt's birthday breakfast, but now that the tension at home is directly affecting him, he's not happy at all. See how he reacts to being told he's going to stay with Hank and Marie for a little while… Walt pulls the "because I said so…" line on him. Meanwhile, it seems Hank and Marie have a little learning to do when it comes to using their parent-whisper voice. If there's one thing I've learned about Breaking Bad, it's that everything is relevant. The show rarely takes time to address a story-point without coming back to it in some way. With Flynn, the obvious theory would be that sooner or later he's going to find out about his parents. Perhaps being sent to Hank and Marie's will lead him to pay a little bit more attention to what his parents (and specifically his father) are up to. Speaking of which, there's the matter of the methylamine to address. If the buckets are being traced, they have to find another source of it, and it seems like Lydia has one. But will obtaining it cost lives? The episode title "Dead Freight" is a bit disconcerting there… Breaking Bad airs Sundays at 10:00 p.m. ET on AMC. Read our breakdown of last night's episode here.
