Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! Gets Series Order At Comedy Central
A couple of years ago, Zach Galifianakis signed a producton deal with HBO. At the time, he was putting together a mockumentary special with comedian Brody Stevens called Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!. If that title sounds familiar, the project eventually became a set of six 15-minute shorts available via HBO digital. Now, another network will be breathing new life into Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!. Comedy Central has ordered the project to series at the network.
Comedy Central has ordered 12 episodes of the new series, but if you are hoping for brand new fodder, you’ll only kind-of get it. The network has plans to take the content that already aired on HBO digital and smush the 15-minute episodes together to create six half-hour episodes. Then, another additional six episodes will be produced for Season 1. Galifianakis is still signed on to executive produce, alongside Stevens, Mike Gibbons, Dave Rath, and Funny or Die.
According to Deadline, Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! will be Comedy Central’s first-ever dramatic comedy series. The project has a little Enlightened to it, as Stevens will suffer a mental breakdown in front of friends (and Twitter followers). The comedian will spend the subsequent series trying to make amends for his actions and reconnecting with old frends. Episodes will include live stand-up footage, animation, and documentary-style shooting and guest stars already slated to appear on Comedy Central include Sarah Silverman, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.
We’ll let you know when Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! gets an official premiere date.
