Is there a chance that the Buffy animated series might finally actually happen? If the folks over at SlayAlive.com have anything to say about it, it will. The website is organizing a campaign to get the series made and either aired on TV or put out in webisodes similar to the hilarious Dr. Horrible web-mini-series.
The idea for the animated version came about back in 2002. Whedon and Jeph Loeb envisioned a cartoon version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that would take place during Buffy’s high school years. Below is a three and a half minute clip which is a sample of what the series could have been like: Unfortunately, the series never got made and now SlayAlive.com is trying to get Fox to reconsider bringing the series that almost was back to life. The site says, “We want to show Fox they can make money by bringing the Buffyverse back to live action and we're going to show them how. So this means concrete evidence of financial success and examples of Buffy in the media put together in a proposal that is signed by as many Buffy fans as we can get a hold of. Once we have a petition signed and growing interest, we take this movement to the media outlets to get wider coverage.” If you think an animated Buffy series is long overdue, you can do your part by signing this online petition!
