Cam And Mitchell's Modern Family Kiss Is Finally Coming Up

By now you must have heard about the controversy surrounding Modern Family and the fact that it has two central gay characters who have never once kissed onscreen. Even Glee creator Ryan Murphy has weighed in, and Modern Family's producers have promised all along that there would be an episode coming up that would finally let Cam and Mitchell engage in a little PDA.

Now we're learning, via E! online, that the episode itself will actually be all about PDA. Showrunner Steven Levitan promised they're coming up on an episode that's been planned before all this controversy and deals with PDA between Mitchell and Cam:

"We've had an episode planned for a long time that dealt with that subject of [Cameron and Mitchell's PDA]. So it almost bothers us that there was a little bit of controversy about it. Because we don't want to appear that we're answering that criticism. But sure enough, we're dealing with public displays of affection, and the power of a kiss. Seems simple, but intriguing—I hope."

It's easy to imagine that Cam would want to slobber kisses all over his beloved while buttoned-up Mitchell would be opposed, and it's pretty much a guarantee that whatever they come up with will be hilarious, because this is Modern Family we're talking about. Honestly at this point it's kind of an elephant in the room-- once we've seen Cam and Mitchell get the same treatment as the two straight couples on the show, we can all go on enjoying Modern Family without that nagging feeling that something is missing.
