Things are looking very good for CBS’ returning comedy series Rules of Engagement. The series, which was nearly exiled to Saturday nights, premiered its sixth season last night to impressive numbers, and showing a significant increase from last season’s premiere.

According to Deadline, Rules of Engagement, which was originally set to air on Saturday nights and was moved last-minute to follow The Big Bang Theory on Thursdays, earned itself 11.5 million viewers last night with a 3.7/12 rating, marking the series best fall premiere in four years. It also looks like this series posted its highest total viewers since Season 3.

Meanwhile, The Big Bang Theory took in 14.7 million viewers, up 11% from its demo last week. Perhaps this is my bias toward Community, when it comes to getting my fix of excellent geek-comedy, however since the NBC series aired a rerun last night, that may have left some people free to drift over to CBS to watch TBBT.

Deadline states that it’s looking like Fox will edge out CBS for the night, having aired Game 2 of the World Series, but much like Game 1, it’s likely that Game 2 will be down from its viewership during last year’s second game.
