Adult Swim's Children's Hospital managed to earn itself an Emmy nomination this year in the Outstanding Special Class - Short-format Live-Action Entertainment Programs category. I don't know if you've heard of that category, but it sounds like a tough one to win, what with the number of webseries for hugely popular TV shows filling most of the nomination spots. Children's Hospital star and executive producer Rob Corddry has taken a negative approach to campaigning for the Emmy this year.
The video below just went up on The Soup's YouTube channel (so we might see it on tonight's episode) and has Corddy delivering a message to the Emmy voters and slamming his competition in the process. Webseries for 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation and The Daily Show are all on the list, with Showtime's comedy series starring Lisa Kudrow, Web Therapy being the only other program on the list that actually airs on TV.
"The Daily Show Correspondents Explain? How about you explain a "Daily Show" that's on four out of seven days a week? Sunday's not a day? Saturday's not a day? They're people's favorite days!"
Personally, I love that webseries are in the running for Emmy's, just as much as I love that Children's Hospital can now call itself "Emmy nominated," but a win for the funny Adult Swim series would be also be really great.
Children's Hospital airs Friday nights on Adult Swim (on actual TV). And The Soup airs Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET on E! (Also on TV).
