Some say the Christmas season doesn’t start until the day after Thanksgiving, while others are of the mindset that it isn’t officially Christmas-time until that big tree in Rockefeller Center is lit up. For those of you who will be waiting for that event before you start decking the halls, set your calendars for December 2nd.
NBC released some information on the tree-lighting ceremony, which is the 12th for the network (and the 77th for the city of New York). This year, 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski and Chuck’s Zachary Levi will be hosting the event. There’s also a list of musicians, including Alicia Keys, Michael Buble and Aretha Franklin, set to appear on the special. And as always, the Rockettes will be on hand to kick off the event. (Get it? Kick... sorry.)
Below is part of the release NBC posted today:
“NBC continues to roll out the holiday festivities on Wednesday, December 2 (8-9 p.m. ET/PT) with a dazzling display of musical talent and the lighting of the world's most famous Christmas tree during the 12th annual "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" telecast. Co-hosted by NBC stars Jane Krakowski (30 Rock) and Zachary Levi (Chuck) and broadcast in high definition, the star-studded tree lighting celebration will feature Michael Buble, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Barry Manilow, The Roots, Shakira, and The Radio City Rockettes performing a mix of current hits and holiday classics from beautifully ornamented stages around Rockefeller Center in New York City.
