Darren Star is heading back to HBO for what sounds like a very interesting comedy project. The creator of Sex and the City is set to adapt Barbara Rose Brooker’s The Viagra Diaries for the small screen and word is, Goldie Hawn is on board to star.

Deadline posted the story, stating that the half-hour comedy centers on a woman whose 65-years-old husband leaves her, leaving her to struggle with being single for the first time in more than three decades. In addition to starring in the comedy, Hawn is also on board to exec-produce alongside Star, Aaron Kaplan and Wendy, Peter and Alan Riche.

As Deadline notes, this will be Hawn’s first credited acting role since The Banger Sisters nearly a decade ago. She did get her start in television, with a role in Good Morning World back in the late ‘60’s and later on in Laugh-In. While I haven’t read The Viagra Diaries, the premise of the series has a very First Wives Club feel to it, or perhaps I’m just saying that because I just watched that movie recently. Regardless, it sounds interesting and if it’s on HBO, there’s a better than average chance it’ll be good.
