With so many months to go before the return of Dexter for its seventh season, we can really only speculate on what's ahead for the Showtime drama series. Showtime recently released a teaser for Season 7, and little details are beginning to emerge in the form of casting updates. Just last week, we shared the news that Jason Gedrick was set to join the show, and today another actor has joined the cast in a role that sounds like it could be connected to Gedrick's.
TV Line is reporting that Swedish-born actress Katia Winter has been signed on to play a "major recurring role" in Dexter Season 7. She's playing a Russian stripper who works in a club in Miami. From what we know of Gedrick's character, he's set to be a manager of a "gentleman's club." Could it be the same club where Winter's character will be disrobing to music? We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, it sounds like Miami night-life will play a role in this season, which wouldn't exactly be a new thing.
Winter's recent credits include an episode of NCIS and a role in the Samuel L. Jackson/Kellen Lutz-starring action film Arena. In addition to Gedrick, she joins the previously cast Ray Stevenson in Dexter Season 7. Stevenson is set to play a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who comes to Miami to figure out who killed one of his associates. It'll be interesting to see how that connects to the story. It's possible it'll be tied in with Deb's work at the Miami Metro PD, or perhaps Dexter will somehow become involved in the situation through his serial-killing hobby.
