Dexter Season 8, Episode 11 Preview: Monkey In The Box
With just two episodes left for Dexter, what will "Monkey in the Box" have to offer? A choice, for one thing. Oftentimes, by the time we get to the end of a season of Dexter, the lead character has his target locked and it's just a matter of how he'll take them down, but this time around, it seems Dexter has the opportunity to walk away. Will he take it? The preview for "Monkey in the Box" hints that a storm is coming, both literally and figuratively. The literal storm could make it very difficult for Dexter and Hannah to make their escape. On the other hand, maybe nature is taking its course here in forcing Dexter to stay behind and face Saxon.
This first clip shows Dexter telling Deb that Vogel is dead.
I'm assuming by the fact that Dexter has showed up at Deb's house "early" the morning after Vogel was killed that the above clip comes ahead of this next one, which shows a tense confrontation between Dexter and Saxon.
As we saw in the preview, Saxon knows all about Dexter's life. He knows about Harrison, Hannah and Deb, the three people Dexter cares most about. So it isn't just his life Dexter has to worry about. Being a semi-sociopath who happens to care about a few select people gives him a lot more to lose than someone like Saxon, who just killed the only person (that we know of) that meant anything to him.
It seems almost necessary that Dexter take Saxon out, but will he simply choose to ignore Saxon's warning and target him? Or is he going to decide to walk away from the situation, pack up Harrison and Hannah and head off to Argentina? That may be the plan, but the storm could stop that from happening. And let's face it, I don't see this series ending with Dexter taking off and leaving a killer like Saxon walk free. But there's always Deb, who has her badge back, which could prove to be very relevant to how things go down as Dexter draws to a close.
While we wait for Sunday night, here's a bloody look back at 96 episodes of Dexter:
Dexter airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET on Showtime.
