As the Karate Kid reboot is set to premiere this month, Encore is preparing fans of the original(s) by airing a Karate Kid marathon this Friday.
Having grown up in the ’80’s, I consider The Karate Kid to be a classic cinematic work of art. Ok, maybe it’s not Citizen Kane, but who doesn’t have a special place in their heart for Daniel Larusso and his crusade against merciless, misguided bullies? (Mercy is for the weak!) While I want to stay true and loyal to the original trilogy, I can’t help but think the upcoming reboot looks pretty decent in a barely-resembles-the-original-film kind of way. All the same, if seeing the commercials for the film about an elderly kung fu master teaching a young, picked on kid how to defend himself are making you feel nostalgic, below is the schedule for Encore’s Karate Kid marathon. And if you don’t have Encore, Netflix subscribers with the streaming video option can catch the movies there.
Karate Kid Marathon: Friday, June 11 beginning at 5:50 p.m.
• The Karate Kid 5:50 p.m. (Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue)
• The Karate Kid Part II 8:00 p.m. (Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Nobu McCarthy)
• The Karate Kid Part III 9:55 p.m. (Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Robyn Lively)
• The Next Karate Kid 11:50 p.m. (Hilary Swank, Pat Morita, Michael Ironside)
