Enjoy A Cannibalized Version Of Hannibal's Pulled Episode Before Tonight's Coquilles
In light of the events that recently took place in Boston, many networks have decided to alter their upcoming schedules out of sensitivity to the tragedy. Hannibal is one of several programs rescheduling episodes that overlap with the situation in any, even minor, way (others include Castle and Revolution) and since replacing the fourth installment with the fifth will also cause some story gaps, NBC has released a 'cannibalized' version of "Ceuf" as a web seres.
At the beginning of the first video, Bryan Fuller did a great job of both addressing the unfortunate circumstances and introducing the importance of watching the scenes from Episode 4 before "Coquilles" airs in its slot tonight on NBC. Fuller and his editors did an excellent job of paring away all references to the week's investigation that might be insensitive (Molly Shannon's guest spot as a serial killer will probably be seen on home video releases), leaving only those scenes and exchanges that pertain to the serialized story.
The short segments are primarily devoted to further developing the Hobbs' narrative, with Kacey Rohl's Abagail on her twisted road to recovery thanks to the help of surrogate family Dr. Bloom and Dr. Lecter. Lecter's the one adding the twists to the road while Bloom is always simply concerned with what is best for the patient. Then there's Will. He and Lecter also continue to grow closer, their relationship becoming even more intriguing (trusting Hannibal to feed his dogs seems like a big step) and, therefore, dangerous. Finally, we also get a sense that all is not well at Chez Crawford with the introduction of Gina Torres as Jack's wife Bella. Okay, more than just a sense.
Here are the appetizers for tonight's main course...
Hannibal airs Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC. Created by Bryan Fuller, the series stars Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Laurence Fishburne and Catherine Dhavernas.
