It’s hard to believe that Fraggle Rock only aired for four seasons, from 1983-1987. I was born in the right bubble where the Jim Hensen Company series was an institution in my childhood and the diverse world built in a creepy underground land underneath Inventor Doc’s workshop and populated by Fraggles is still firmly in my mind. Now, the series is preparing to turn 30, and to celebrate, the Jim Henson Company and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment have put together a full series set as well as a smaller set for fans. Both will hit stores on May 14.

The Fraggle Rock: 30th Anniversary Collection will include all four seasons of the hit series, and will offer a slew of bonus features. The most important of these is behind-the-scenes footage found in the Jim Henson Company’s archives. Additionally, a graphic novel with an activity guide and red plush keychain will be included with the $129.99 set. There’s nothing that spells “successful DVD set” like a plush keychain.

Clearly the 30th Anniversary Collection is just for the die hard fans of Jim Henson or the series, but if you do have fond memories of the show and would like to relive the series or introduce Fraggle Rock to a new generation, the company will also put out Fraggle Rock: Meet the Fraggles, a smaller set that will offer the pilot and five episodes of the series. That set will run for the much more reasonable cost of $14.93. Either way, you’ll get plenty of unique characters and great musical moments from the Jim Henson Co.
