Louis C.K. is without a doubt one the most interesting and, more importantly, hilarious stand-up comedians today. Actually, that isn't even fair, because with the critical and financial success of his latest TV Show, Louie, you can add brilliant writer, director, and actor to his resume. If you haven't seen any of his stand-up, you should (check out his latest, Hilarious...it lives up to the title).
After his awkward and kind of flat HBO sitcom, Lucky Louie was cancelled after only one season, the comedian turned back to his stand-up roots to craft his second TV effort, and this time he nailed it. With its mix of pee-inducing hilarity and sobering realism, his neuroses and his (adorably) annoying little girls, it strikes an original cord in what is usually the dull and interchangeable sitcom landscape. I think the show is a true conversion of his stand-up art into another medium, an adaptation that doesn't always end well.
As you can see, I'm pretty excited to dive into the second season of Louie, a feeling only bolstered by this pitch-perfect promo for the upcoming season premiere. What you see is what you get, and that's what I love about Louis C.K.
Louie returns to FX on June 23rd at 10:30 p.m. ET. And if you want to catch the man talking candidly about his art (with three other greats: Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Ricky Gervais), check out the one-hour HBO special, Talking Funny.
