Girls Episode 1: Watch The Series Premiere Of HBO's New Comedy Here
Last night, HBO premiere the first episode of Lena Dunhamís comedy series Girls. For those of you who didnít catch it, either because you donít have HBO or because your Sunday night was spent watching something else or away from the television entirely, HBO has been kind enough to post the premiere episode online and you can watch it right here.
Iíll hold my own personal opinions on the series premiere until after the video. But to intro it, for those unfamiliar with the show, Girls is a comedy series produced by Judd Apatow and writer/director Lena Dunham. It follows a group of young women as theyíre attempting to navigate through the tricky world of being an adult while living in New York City.
The pilot episode hasnít sold me on this series completely. On one hand, itís funny, and that alone is enough to get me to watch more. Plus, it's awkward and honest in places, which I like. I also like how the premiere addresses the frustration in learning that, for many, a college-degree alone is not enough to secure a dream-job (or even one in your field). On the other hand, I had a harder time connecting with Hannah on the subject of her expectations of her parents and their financial support of her, which played a big part in the series opener. I wasnít sure if I was supposed to or not, either. But I do want to see how she does in finding her way now that sheís on her own. Thatís definitely a story worth exploring. So Iíll be watching more.
For those of you who canít view the above video, HBO also has the full episode posted on YouTube.
Girls airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO.
