All of that moolah Oxygen invested in syndicating Glee, as well as creating The Glee Project is actually paying off. The Glee Project has been officially renewed for a second season, and it’s going to be a little bit bigger than Season 1.

Fourteen contestants will be competing in Season 2 of The Glee Project, as opposed to the 12 that competed in Season 1. According to TV Line, the fourteen contestants were chosen from thousands of hopefuls who auditioned either via the internet or during the show’s casting tour back in November. Winners will earn a 7 episode arc on Fox’s Glee. Last year, contestants Damian McGinty and Samuel Larsen won seven episodes, although I think it is pertinent to note a couple of runner-ups, Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell, also won stints on the show. Ryan Murphy, Robert Ulrich, Zach Woodlee, and Nikki Anders will serve as the judges panel.

It’s great Oxygen has announced the renewal of The Glee Project; however, despite the fact the show averaged less than a million viewers, I don’t know if anyone was particularly worried the forum for finding new talent would be cancelled. Besides, back in November, we reported auditions for a second season had already begun, so showrunners must have been pretty confident. With a bunch of the cast preparing to graduate from William McKinley High School, who knows what opportunities might open up for the upcoming winners? Find out when Season 2 of The Glee Project airs this summer.
