Good News For Some ABC Series Including Ugly Betty

While ABC is apparently not ready to announce any pick-ups officially yet, rumor has it, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, America’s Funniest Home Videos and The Bachelor are all very close to seeing another season. What’s more, the future is looking very good for Ugly Betty despite reports that the series is going on a hiatus this spring.

Around the end of the last month Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello reported that Ugly Betty is going on hiatus from the end of March through June (possibly). Today Ausiello reports that despite the “perception problem” that resulted from the news of the hiatus, his sources say ABC is very close to renewing Ugly Betty for a fourth season.

I hate random hiatuses. They disrupt the flow of the season and force us to try and keep track of when the show is actually coming back with new episodes. That said, if ABC’s really set to pick Betty up for another season, this is good news. Unless the ratings plummet in the show’s fourth season because people forget to tune back in to the show when it returns in June (when we’re all used to most of our shows going on hiatus for the summer). Am I being too pessimistic here?
