Gordon Ramsay’s making a pretty good living telling people they’re doing things wrong. Now, it appears he’s extending that skill to the hotel industry with a new series that sounds like Kitchen Nightmares, except for hotels on the verge of going under.
Hotel Hell (Working Title), which is now casting, will feature Ramsay, armed with a team of hospitality experts, as he travels across the country, attempting fix up beat-up hotels, motels and Bed & Breakfasts.
From dirty bedrooms and mold-ridden bathrooms to incompetent staff or customer service that’s not up to par, Ramsay and his team will work with the hotel employees to turn these hapless establishments around. As he tries to turn these “No”-tels into successful hotels, Ramsay – in his own inimitable style – will go head-to-head with the owners and staff, raising the tension to maximum capacity. With reputations on the line, one thing is certain: if they can’t meet Ramsay’s high standards, they will never check out of HOTEL HELL.“These are stories that everyone can relate to, because virtually all of us have had a bad hotel experience that’s turned a holiday or business trip into a total disaster,” Ramsay added. “It’s time to put the hospitality industry to the test.”
Much like Kitchen Nightmares, the appeal for a show like this should work twofold. People don’t seem to be tiring of watching Ramsay bark orders in his British accent, angrily declaring a lot of the obvious. (“It’s rotten!” “That’s raw!” “Shut it down!”) And, this one expands the make-over show appeal by opening up the business to hotels/motels/B&B’s, many of which probably have restaurants and/or kitchens, at the very least, but also have lobbies and bedrooms which will likely need to be spruced up or completely redone. .
