Grimm: Season 1 Blu-Ray Supplemented With Collector's Cards

Grimm’s first season did well enough to earn the show one of NBC’s early renewals, likely due to a steady commitment from loyal viewers on Friday nights. The supernatural crime procedural has 22 episodes set for Season 2, but if you haven’t caught up on the first round of mythological creature stories yet, you won’t have much longer to wait.

Grimm: Season 1 is set to hit shelves on August 7th, allowing new and old fans alike to watch David Giuntoli’s Nick Burkhardt as he discovers his powers and responsibilities as a Grimm, an ancient order charged with maintaining balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. The set will be available on both DVD and Blu-Ray, but the real winner is the five-disc special edition Blu-Ray that will also come with Grimm collector cards. Blu-Ray copies will also come exclusively with an interactive book that will give fans more information on many of the creatures that appear on the show each week.

Clearly the winner here is the makeup featurette. Many movies that employ makeup extensively will include a how-to as a bonus feature on the disc, but I’ve never seen that sort of thing done for a television show extra. Taking a look at the makeup and how other special effects are accomplished through the eye of the team should be pretty awesome, and Universal Studios Home Entertainment is also promising several other extras that have not yet been announced.
