Heidi Klum Will Judge America's Got Talent
Heidi Klum is about to use her reality TV skills in a completely different setting. The Project Runway host and judge has signed on with NBC to occupy a judges spot on the network’s hit summer series, America’s Got Talent. Klum will be joining the already announced former Spice Girl Mel B as judge, as well as returning judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern.
In the past, America’s Got Talent has offered a judges panel comprised of three judges. However, other reality competition shows have flipped between three and four judges in the past without the change affecting the quality of the overall programming. American Idol, for example, recently switched back to four judges and it hasn’t been half bad to hear critiques from four completely different perspectives. Besides, Klum should bring some bubble and enthusiasm to the AGT judges table that the panel has lacked in the past. In fact, she already comes across as enthusiastic when just discussing the opportunity.
“I'm really excited to join the panel of AGT to see it all--from the ridiculous to the fantastic! I love the surprise element of the show and not knowing what we'll see next and who will wow us. I'm also looking forward to spending time with my fellow judges - Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B!"
Klum rose to fame in the fashion industry as a model, but has spent the last several years acting as a host and judge on Project Runway. While onstage dancing, animal training, weird acts with fire and so much more are a long way from judging clothing, I have every confidence Klum will be able to adjust. I’m actually quite happy the show has signed on an additional famous female face alongside Mel B. The addition of a Spice Girl seemed a little gimmicky, but Klum seems to have the judging talent to back the name.
The first round of auditions for the new season began today and Season 8 of NBC’s program will air sometime this summer.
