Jodie Foster has spent most of her career in front of the camera, but the actress has forayed into directing on several occasions, as well. Now, The Beaver director is set to jump behind the camera for a subscription cable network show about a female-led mob family. Itís no real surprise Showtime would take interest in Fosterís most recent project, since the network and the director have worked together in the past, most notably on the nineties flick The Baby Dance, but since the director has very little experience working in television, the subscription cable company will be going out on a bit of a limb if it chooses to carry the show to series.

Called Angieís Body, the dramatic project will follow a hardened but beautiful woman who's responsible for the wellbeing of an entire crime syndicate. Deadline is reporting Heroes writer Rob Fresco is penning Angieís Body, and will executive produce alongside Foster and Sony TVís Russ Krasnoff.

Thereís no word yet on whether or not Foster will take an acting role should the project go to series; however, her decision could really go either way. Foster took a decent-sized role in her most recent acting endeavor The Beaver, and with the large ensemble cast a mob drama is likely to need, Iím sure she could find a role onscreen if she wants one. Since Angieís Body is only in the early development stages over at Showtime, Foster will have plenty of time to think it over, and in the meantime, we can keep our fingers crossed the subscription cable network will portray the mob from a female perspective sometime in the future.
