Jonah Hill hosted last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, delivering a few decent sketches, including a solid opening monologue, and a really random nod to Coolio at the end. Meanwhile, Stefon returned to Weekend Update to talk about St. Patrick’s Day and giggle at his own comments.
While Hill’s hosting gig was likely timed to match the upcoming release of 21 Jump Street, it also comes in the wake of the Academy Awards. Hill's nomination for his performance in Moneyball was the focus of the opening monologue, as we were presented with a look at Hill’s week at SNL wherein he acted like a big-shot, sporting fancy scarves and tiny glasses. The monologue was topped off by an appearance by Tom Hanks, who is apparently still very proud of his Oscars. That video is below, along with Stefon’s appearance, a “Tennis Balls” digital short, and both performances by musical guest The Shins. “Coolio” is missing, which may be due to the song rights. That might be for the best, as I still have “C U When U Get There” stuck in my head.
