While we're still waiting for more details on who will star in Joss Whedon's highly anticipated S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot, word about the project's production has made its way online today. More specifically, when production will start and a general idea of when we should expect more casting news.
Since ABC greenlit the pilot back in August, we've learned that the pilot would focus on the fictional organization S.H.I.E.L.D., which has been featured in the recent Marvel movies, including the Joss Whedon directed Avengers. And that Clark Gregg would be reprising his role as Agent Coulson in some way. More recently, it was announced that Ming-na Wen had been cast in the pilot. But we also know that there are a number of other roles that have yet to be filled.
Today comes word from Variety's Marc Graser that production will start on the pilot this January:
When asked if we should expect to hear some casting news within the next week or two, Graser responded, "I'd bet on that. At least the next month."
It's exciting to know that production will get started in just a couple of months. We'll have to keep an ear out for casting news in the coming weeks. I doubt I'm alone in wondering if one or two actors from past Whedon projects will make their way into this pilot. We'll keep you posted when more details emerge!
