The League Promotes Season 4 With RG3, Golden Tate And More NFL Stars
It's almost too bad that FX's The League is starting so soon. Wait! Here me out! It's just that the extra time would allow the fantasy football-based comedy to work the current NFL season into the show's fourth because the former has certainly provided more than enough fodder for the sitcom. The replacement referees, and their embarrassment of riches, may not make an appearance this year on The League but several players have already started showing up to help promote the FX comedy returning this fall.
The first of a handful of promos features RG3, that's Robert Griffin III - 2011 Heisman Trophy winner, second pick of the '12 NFL Draft and now quarterback for the Washington Redskins - with his new best friend Ruxin. Nick Kroll plays slimy so well!
The next video has Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick talking shop with Taco. Well, trying his best to talk shop with Taco but the fantasy player surprisingly doesn't seem to have a clue. Just like Fitzpatrick on the field! Sorry, cheap shot.
The show also just released a new video on their Tumblr page that has Pete, Ruxin and Taco discussing the merits of (wide receiver not cereal) Golden Tate, a player who just happens to be wrapped up in the ref controversy at the moment. Hm. I wonder, since the video has yet to hit The League's YouTube page, if the network decided to release it a bit early to coincide with the news? Either way, that was a terrible call and I'm not even a Packers fan.
Season 4 of The League premieres with "Training Camp," on Thursday, October 11 at 10:30 p.m. ET on FX. Created by Jeff Schaffer and Jackie Marcus Schaffer, the series stars Mark Duplass, Steve Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Jon Lajoie and Katie Aselton.
