Marvel Studios Has Huge Plans To Take Over Your Television image
The folks over at Marvel Studios have done their part to revolutionize modern blockbuster filmmaking, launching multiple movie franchises that operate individually while all being connected inside one huge Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now they have begun concentrating more of their efforts on the small screen. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will debut its fourth episode this week (and just got picked up for a full season), we've already heard buzz about a possible Agent Carter series starring Hayley Atwell, and now Deadline is reporting that a massive undertaking is underway with the studio in the midst of developing four separate television series and a possible miniseries.

All-in-all there is a 60 episode package that Marvel is planning to shop to VOD, cable, Netflix, Amazon and WGN America. While there are no details available about what the shows would be - the studio is notorious for keeping everything on the hush-hush - apparently networks and platforms are already getting interested. Everything at this point is very much in the early stages with "very little talent attached," and Marvel declined to comment on the report.

Of course, the potential for series within the Marvel Universe are practically endless thanks to the ridiculous number of characters that the comic book giant has created in the better part of the last century. Due to deals made with Sony and 20th Century Fox the studio won't be able to make shows about the X-Men, Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four, but there are still plenty of other heroes out there who might not be part of Marvel's film plans and would work well on the small screen. Can't find a good place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for heroes Luke Cage and Iron Fist? Create a Heroes For Hire show that has the two characters using their powers to help people private investigator-style! Don't want to risk more big screen failure with Punisher or Daredevil? Why not let them play out their roles for 15 episodes a season on cable! Thanks to the number of stories that have played out on illustrated pages over the years there is no end to the list of potential ideas.

Of course, if this development is indeed happening then we probably still have a long time to wait for it. The folks over at Marvel have actually figured out their plans through the year 2021, so finding a place for four shows and a mini-series to fit into continuity will take time and energy. In the meantime there's no harm in speculating. What Marvel Studios TV shows would you like to see come out of this deal?
