In response to the devastation brought by Hurricane Sandy, the TV networks have responded with condolences and plenty of kind comments about hearts going out to those affected. One TV company is taking condolences one step further, and is introducing a telethon to help the victims of the tragedy. NBC Universal has Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together in the works this week.
NBC Universal is joining all of its networks together for a special one-hour telethon on Friday, November 2 (that’s tomorrow, if you don’t have a calendar handy). This means audiences will be able to catch the telethon on some big networks, including NBC, Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, Syfy, and USA. To help bring in some big donors, the company is also bringing in a slew of stars to perform during the tenure of the benefit. Christina Aguilera will be on hand—which is less of a surprise, since she is directly related to NBC’s The Voice. However, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Sting, and Jon Bon Jovi are also expected to perform live.
NBC veteran reporter Matt Lauer will host the telethon and Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams will also be on hand at the event. Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together’s proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross, but if you would like to donate early, you can do so via redcross.org by telephone (1-800-RED-CROSS).
Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together will air on all NBC-owned networks on Friday, November 2 at 8 p.m. ET.
