When President Obama first went on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in March of 2009, he was the first sitting President to ever appear on a late night talk show. When he went back in 2011, his interview was a little more fun spirited, and it showed in the ratings. The numbers during his appearance were out the roof, earning The Tonight Show a 4.1 rating during its timeslot. Because the President reached such a wide audience, it is really no wonder The First Lady would want to go on and discuss her own causes.

First Lady Michelle Obama is set to take the Tonight Show stage on Tuesday, January 31. The focal point of her very first late night interview as the First Lady will be to discuss her “Let’s Move” campaign, a campaign that focuses on efforts to inform others about childhood obesity and to give solutions to combat the problem in American society. However, her trip over to NBC will not be all business.

Obama will also be speaking out about her life within the White House, as well as her family. If she’s anything like her husband, she should prove a fine orator. Finally, according to NBC, the First Lady will speak out about her brand new book, American Grown, about the White House kitchen gardens. The book is set to hit stores in April.

Michelle Obama was last interviewed during late night programming prior to her husband’s 2008 election win, so it should be interesting to see how her late night interviewee skills have improved in the past few years. The real question is: do you think the First Lady can earn the type of ratings her husband brought in?

Michelle Obama’s interview on The Tonight Show will air Tuesday, January 31 between 11:35 and 12:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
