Among the recent additions to The Office is Jake Lacy's Pete, the adorable newcomer who caught Erin's eye and then politely refrained from making a move until it seemed like she was absolutely ready. Pete's the ultimate nice guy, which makes him a perfect fit for Erin - so far, anyway. But The Office is on its way out, which means Lacy will once again be on the market, and it's not surprising that he's already been scooped up for another comedy.
TVLine says Lacy has been cast in the CBS comedy The McCarthys, which comes from Brian Gallivan and Will Gluck. The pilot centers on an Irish-Catholic family from Boston that loves sports ("Go Soax!"). Lacy has been cast in the role of Ronny, a guy described as smart, funny and neurotic. He came out to his family a couple of years back and is now trying to start a life away from them, though it sounds like they're constantly finding ways to involve themselves in his life (or involve him in their drama).
Rescue Me's Jack McGee and Australia-born actress Jacki Weaver are already on board to play Ronny's parents. It seems likely that there will be siblings involved, though there's no specific mention on that subject yet, so we'll have to wait and see what other casting news arrives for this project. In the meantime, it sounds like a promising comedy and a great role for Jake, who scored his first big TV role with the short-lived ABC comedy Better with You. He was also originally supposed to be one of the titular Goodwins in Fox's yet-to-air comedy The Goodwin Games, though he was later replaced. And how we're seeing him on The Office, showing Erin some of the romance and attention she deserves since Andy set sail for the Caribbean.
