Planning on taking a break from the Olympics tonight? Me neither. After yesterday's great performances and victories, I'm eager to see what Day 7 has in store for us. As it happens, NBC has more swimming and gymnastics set to air during their primetime coverage, along with a bit of Track and Field, some diving, volleyball and trampolines!
First up, let's hear it for Gabby Douglas (a.k.a. the Flying Squirrel) for her outstanding efforts in gymnastics, which earned the 16-year-old a gold medal for Team USA in the all-around yesterday. You can watch her performances here. It was also a good day for Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps, who were up against one another in the 200m IM. They both medaled, but it was Phelps who managed to secure the gold. Check out that race here. That's twenty career Olympic medals for Phelps, for those keeping count. On the women's side of things, Rebecca Soni scored a gold medal for the 200m breaststroke, becoming the first female swimmer to win back-to-back Olympic championships for this event, and she set a world record. Watch that race here. FRIDAY, AUGUST 3 (Day 7) 8 p.m. – Midnight (ET/PT) Swimming – Gold Medal Finals Men’s 100M Butterfly Men’s 50M Freestyle Women’s 200M Backstroke Women’s 800M Freestyle Track and Field – Men’s Shot Put Gold Medal Final Women’s Diving – Springboard Qualifying Women’s Volleyball – U.S. vs. Serbia Men’s Gymnastics – Trampoline Gold Medal Final Coming up tonight, more swimming for the men and the women, including Phelps' last individual event. And it looks like NBC is working some Track and Field into their primetime coverage, with the Men's Shot Put Gold Medal Final. I'll also be interested in checking out the Trampoline event. That sounds like fun. Back to top
