Paul Simon And Ed Helms Among Those To Be Featured On SNL Before Season's End
It's all quality, all the time for Saturday Night Live, at least when it comes to guest stars for the rest of its thirty-sixth season. On hiatus since the April 9th episode with Helen Mirren and the Foo Fighters, the sketch comedy show will return May 7th with Tina Fey as host and Ellie Goulding as musical guest. There was a ton of buzz last time Tina Fey hosted because of the whole Sarah Palin impression, but because of her storied tenure as head writer and current ascent to beloved status, it should be a well-received episode regardless of whether she busts out the former Alaskan governor or not.
According to THR, the following week, May 14th, SNL will feature beloved musical guest Paul Simon and host Ed Helms. You may remember Simon was featured in many actual sketches during the show's formative years, including one of my favorites where he played one-on-one against the Knicks' Connie Hawkins, but it's doubtful he'll play major acting minutes this time around with someone like Ed Helms at bat.
And last but not least, as reported earlier, the May 21st finale will include both Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga. It's strange to think the pair would garner more attention than Paul Simon or Tina Fey, but there's perhaps been no recent, non-former cast member host that's more gotten the just-go-with-it SNL vibe than Justin Timberlake. He's been brilliant in sketches such as “Single Ladies”, “Homelessville” and “Dick In A Box”. Expect him to crush again.
